Swiss duos impose their rule in Lausanne
CEV Beach Volleyball Challenger & Satellites

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 29, 2012. The Swiss duos demonstrated their supremacy in the first day of action for the Main Draw of the CEV Satellite in Lausanne as they comfortably found their way to the 1/4 finals. Mirco Gerson and Philip Gabathuler will be playing there Estonia’s Kristo Kollo and Rivo Vesik to prolong their winning streak and advance to the semis. As for the first-seeded pair of the Main Draw, i.e. Patrick Heuscher (pictured) and Jefferson Bellaguarda, they also cruised to the 1/4 finals without losing any set in the first rounds of play and on Saturday will continue their adventure by taking on Austria’s Thomas Kunert and Lorenz Petutschnig.
Another Swiss pair, Mats Kovatsch and Jonas Kissling, played well on Friday but they did not advance to the next round as they lost to a strong Czech team, Jan Dumek and Martin Tichy. Mats Kovatsch, local hero having played for the local club Lausanne Université (LUC) in the past, was still happy with his performance in front of the home audience: “We still hope to claim a good result at the Swiss national championship, making it to the semifinals there”.
Peter Eglseer and Felix Koraimann of Austria will also return in action on Saturday after they got the favor of the audience in Lausanne by warming up for one of their matches together with a 10-year super-excited boy.
On Saturday the Bellerive Park that hosted the qualification matches on Thursday will be the venue of an amateur tournament with 65 teams lining up for that special Beach Volleyball festival, thereby breaking the records set in the previous editions.
