Riga to host EEVZA U18 Beach Volleyball Championship

Riga, Latvia, June 18, 2012. The 2012 EEVZA U18 Beach Volleyball Championship will run through the next three days, starting from Tuesday, in Latvia’s capital city. This time the event is being joined by a total of 11 men’s and 8 women’s pairs respectively.
The boys’ Championship will feature 6 teams from Latvia, 3 from Russia and 1 apiece from Estonia and Lithuania. As for the girls’ division, Latvia will be represented by 4 duos that will be challenged by two Russian pairs while Estonia and Lithuania will line-up one team each.
The event will be hosted by the outdoor Beach Volleyball courts of the “Brazilija” sports center, one of the largest facilities for beach sports in the Baltic countries.
“We are always very happy to get the chance to host young players in our country” says Egils Cirulis, Secretary General of the Latvian Volleyball Federation. “The EEVZA U18 Championship is an extremely useful challenge for young players who are just about to start their career in Beach Volleyball. We have been doing our best to prepare for this event and we hope to see many great and exciting matches as the competition runs here in Riga through this coming Thursday”.
