17/06/2012 22:00 Poland downs Brazil again to qualify for World League finals News from the National Federations Warsaw, Poland, June 17, 2012. It was a very good weekend for Poland men’s national team as the group mentored by Italian-born Andrea Anastasi scored three wins in Tampere for the prelims of the 2012 FIVB World League and hence qualified for the final round that is slated for early July in Sofia, Bulgaria. “We had some problems to fix but I am happy that we succeeded in our goal and especially with our qualification for the finals in Sofia” said team captain Marcin Mozdzonek. “We came to Finland very tired after a long journey but any time we play Brazil we are additionally motivated and this time our goal was to finish atop of the charts in the group” added setter Lukasz Zygadlo. “This win over Brazil can add some more pressure on the other teams; I am very happy that we played that good and stayed motivated up to the end” he stressed. After this weekend of action in Tampere, the team is traveling back to Poland where the players will be resting for 5 days. “We will be resuming together this coming Friday in Spala. The coming days are very important because so far we did not have any chance to rest” added Zygadlo. In Tampere Poland edged Brazil for the third time since the start of the World League. Brazil’s head coach Bernardo Rezende was furious but still the triple World champions can make it to the finals in Sofia depending on the results of the other Pools. “Today Poland was simply better” said Giba after that loss in Tampere. The results of the World League in Tampere improved the general mood among Poland’s sports fans after the soccer team was eliminated from the UEFA Euro 2012 losing on Saturday night to their neighbors from the Czech Republic.
