10 National Federations have entered the 2014 CEV Volleyball European League - Men.
The 10 participating National Federations were
split into two Pools using the serpentine system, according to the CEV
European Ranking (as at 18-10-2014).
POOL A: POL, GRE, MNE, ROU, AZE
POOL B: TUR, SLO, AUT, DEN, MKD
Both of these pools will play a single round robin (2 matches at Home and 2 matches Away), playing two matches in each Leg.
QUALIFICATION AND FORMAT
As no competing National Federation applied to organise the Men’s Final Round, Home and Away Matches will be played for the Semi Final (SF 1 and SF 2) and Final (F1 and F2).
The first two ranked teams of each pool (A1 & A2 and B1 & B2) will be qualified for the semi-finals (SF1 and SF2):
1st match: B2 vs A1
2nd match: A1 vs. B2
1st match: A2 vs. B1
2nd match: B1 vs. A2
A draw has been done to see which team plays the second match (F2) at home:
• F1 = winner of SF2 vs. winner of SF1
• F2 = winner of SF1 vs winner of SF2
The Semi Final match 1st Leg: Saturday or Sunday 12th/13th July (organised by A2 and B2)
The Semi Final match 2nd Leg: Wednesday 16th July (organised by A1 and B1)
Final 1st Leg: Wednesday 23rd July (organised by the winner of SF 2)
Final 2nd Leg: Saturday or Sunday 26th/27th July (organised by the winner of SF1)
World League Qualification
winners of the 2014 European League are automatically granted a spot in
the next edition of the FIVB World League (Men) or FIVB World Grand
Prix (Women), directly replacing the lowest placed European team
(assuming that the qualifying team can fulfil all of the requirements
set out by the FIVB).
