Fenerbahce SK ISTANBUL take control of quarterfinal
2017 CEV Volleyball Cup - Men

Istanbul, Turkey, March 2, 2017.  Burhan Felek Voleybol Salonu played host to a fairly routine home win as Fenerbahce SK ISTANBUL swept GFC AJACCIO from France 3-0 (26-24, 25-14, 25-18).  The two sides play again in the 2nd leg in a couple of weeks with the French team needing to match the score from the 1st leg to stand any chance of progressing to the semi-finals.

In the first set, Fenerbahçe started with a strong game and gained a 7-2 lead with considerable ease.  However after that, GFC AJACCIO put together a six-point run and went to the first technical time-out ahead 8-7. Following this there was another turnaround as Fenerbahçe succeeded to go to the second technical time-out ahead 16-15. The first set was close, with both teams playing well but Fenerbahçe won through in the end 26-24.
The second set was similar at the start and was a tough exchange for both teams. As the set went on, the home team began to dominate and they went into the second technical time-out leading 16-9. Fenerbahçe continued to excel in most areas and took the set 25-14.
In the third set both teams kept the score close in the early stages but Fenerbahçe took the lead 8-6 when the teams went to the first technical time-out. As with the second set, the home team continued its good play and were thrilled to win the third set 25-18 and the match 3-0.
