Jászberény proves to be good host to #EuroVolleyU18W qualifier
2017 CEV U18 Volleyball European Championship - Women
Jászberény, Hungary, January 15, 2017. Earlier this weekend Hungary hosted one of eight second-round qualifiers to the 2017 CEV U18 Volleyball European Championship – Women. On the opening day of the tournament Jászberény, the host city, held a reception at the local town hall for the participating teams, referees and the tournament’s Supervisor, Mr Slobodan Milosevic of Serbia.
Tamás Szabó, the Mayor of Jászberény, expressed his gratitude and happiness that the city could play host to such a prestigious international event. He explained that Jászberény is the centre of an economically stable and developed area, so the city can invest a lot in education, culture and sports as well. “We would like to become better and internationally recognised in more sports. This tournament was an excellent opportunity for us to show that Jászberény could be a good host for similar events in future,” Mr Szabó said, as he briefly introduced Jászberény and the local culture and people to the guests in attendance.
All participants enjoyed the past weekend in Jászberény and the Mayor expressed his hope that they will return to this beautiful city one day, not only to compete in another tournament, but for sightseeing as well.
