SCD and World Champs qualification to be broadcast on Faroese national TV
2018 FIVB Women's World Championship / 2017 CEV Volleyball European Championship - Small Countries Division
Tórshavn, Faroe Islands, May 19, 2016. When Tórshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands, hosts the women’s Pool A qualification round for the 2017 CEV Volleyball European Championship – Small Countries Division (SCD), which also counts for the first qualifying stage of the European qualification process to the 2018 FIVB Women’s World Championship, matches from the competition will for the first time ever be broadcast live on national TV. The Faroese Volleyball Association has indeed made a deal to broadcast three of the six matches on schedule from Monday, May 23 through to Wednesday, June 25.
All of the matches will also be streamed live on the internet and the relevant links will soon be made available on the official website of the Faroese Volleyball Association, www.fbf.fo, and on the CEV website as well.
For the Faroese Volleyball Association, the hosting of this competition will be one of their biggest tasks to date, but with great support from the Tórshavn Municipality, who is the official host of the event, the organisers are confident that they will put on a memorable show for both players and spectators – and also viewers of TV broadcast and live streaming on the internet all around the world.
The competition, which is a combined qualification tournament for the 2018 World Championship and the 2017 SCD European Championship, runs from Monday, May 23 to Wednesday, May 25 and the participating countries are – in addition to the Faroe Islands (pictured) – Cyprus, Ireland and Liechtenstein.
The eventual winners of the single round-robin tournament will progress to the next stage of the World Championship qualification while the two best-ranked teams (winners and runners-up) qualify for the European Championship SCD finals, which will be taking place in 2017.
