Uralochka claims well-deserved away victory in Baku

Baku, Azerbaijan, January 15, 2014. Azerrail BAKU lost on Wednesday night the first round of the 1/4 finals clash of the 2014 CEV Volleyball Cup – Women with Uralochka-NTMK EKATERINBURG. The guests from Russia could exploit their experience to cruise past with the score of 3:1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-13, and 25-16) to get the right edge for the return game coming up next week in Ekaterinburg.
Uralochka dictated the pace of the match right from the go (9:5) but the hosts of Azerrail could fight their way back into the game (17:17) and in the end the players around head coach Aleksandr Chervyakov brought it home (25-22).
The players of Azerrail got some extra motivation after winning the first set and continued to display a very good performance also in the second; however, after a very close final rush it was Uralochka that had the upper hand this time (23-25). The guests mentored by legendary Nikolay Karpol displayed excellent Volleyball and some fast game in the third set where they quickly moved the score up to 7:13 before cruising to a comfortable 13-25 to make it 1:2 in sets. This trend continued also in the fourth where Uralochka set the tempo from the start up to the end bringing the game to an end (16-25) for a well-deserved away victory. Sinead Jack and Irina Zaryazhko top scored for Uralochka with 23 and 22 points respectively while Katerina Zhidkova and Anastasiya Gurbanova paced Azerrail with 14 apiece.
