Italy’s champions PIACENZA down Igtisadchi for second time in one week
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Women

Piacenza, Italy, December 5, 2013. On Thursday Italy’s champions RebecchiNMeccanica PIACENZA claimed their second victory over Igtisadchi BAKU (3:0; 25-17, 25-20, and 26-24) to cement their second place in the standing of Pool B of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women. With this result they also made a step forward on their way to the Playoffs 12 though there are still another two rounds to go before completion of the prelims. PIACENZA currently has nine points with the charts topped by Dinamo MOSCOW of Russia with 10.
The first and second sets were literally one-sided with PIACENZA controlling the game from the start up to the end (25-17 and 25-20). The local heroines caught a very good start to claim an early lead in the first set while Igtisadchi showed some good actions in the opening of the second set before the Italians imposed their rule. The third set was much closer; BAKU played their best and even set the pace by five points (15:20) before PIACENZA clawed back to draw level at 22 with a spike killed by Belgian Liesbet Vindevoghel. In a very exciting final rush, Lucia Bosetti (pictured) scored the last point for a valuable straight-set victory. Bosetti top scored in the end with 18 points with Floortje Meijners and Lise Van Hecke also finishing the game in double figures with 15 and 10 respectively. Onuma Sittirak registered 13 for Igtisadchi.
Next week PIACENZA will travel to Serbia to play there Crvena Zvezda BEOGRAD while Igtisadchi will take on Dinamo MOSCOW in Russia’s capital city.
