ACH Volley ends its CL season playing Italy’s vice champions PIACENZA
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men
Ljubljana, Slovenia, December 17, 2013. ACH Volley LJUBLJANA will face Italian vice-champions Copra Elior PIACENZA in the sixth leg of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League season in the last match in front of their home fans at the Stožice sports hall.
Although the Slovenian champions will bid farewell to the European competitions after this match due to the surprising loss against the Bulgarian team of Marek Union-Ivkoni DUPNITSA last week, they are determined to offer the home crowd a real treat and to snatch another victory. Team captain Andrej Flajs stresses that ACH Volley LJUBLJANA wants to end the season in style: “Although this is the last match in this year’s Champions League for us, we want to give our supporters a great performance. We know that the Italian team is only interested in victory, but we want to make their work harder.”
The head coach of Copra Elior PIACENZA, Luca Monti stressed victory is very important for his team: “We want to win, because this would cement our leadership in the Pool and this way we would probably get an easier opponent in the Playoffs. We played a tough match against TRENTINO on Sunday, but we will give our best nevertheless to win on Wednesday.”
The match promises to be a real crowd-pleaser, as ACH Volley LJUBLJANA put on a good fight in the first leg in Piacenza and only lost 3:1 against the favourite team from Italy. Support from the stands will be considerable as well as many school classes announced their arrival.
