Bulgarian youngsters want to seize the night in their last CL home fixture
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men
Dupnitsa, Bulgaria, December 10, 2013. On Thursday Bulgaria’s Marek Union-Ivkoni DUPNITSA will play their last home match in the prelims of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men hosting Slovenia’s ACH Volley LJUBLJANA. The home heroes are already eliminated from the competition after suffering four straight defeats while their guests still have the chance to continue their European campaign.
The young Bulgarian champions always started each of their matches in a good way but in the end they could not stand the pressure of their opponents both mentally as well as physically. This time, as per the wishes expressed by home captain and setter Gjorgi Gjorgiev, his side has to show strong nerves so as to claim their first victory in the competition.
Last Sunday Marek Union-Ivkoni prolonged their winning streak in the national league to eight straight matches after routing Slavia SOFIA in three sets (25-21, 25-17, and 25-19) even though head coach Nayden Naydenov decided to use his second lines.
ACH Volley, on the other hand, lost last week only at the tie-break to Pool leaders TOURS VB and they will be targeting an away victory in Bulgaria so as to make the Challenge Round of the 2014 CEV Volleyball Cup. This month the team hasn’t played any game in the Middle European League thereby focusing exclusively on Europe’s elite club competition.
