PIACENZA wants to take their revenge in key match with TOURS VB
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men

Piacenza, Italy, December 9, 2013. This weekend Copra Elior PIACENZA claimed their last match in the national league by routing in straight sets Exprivia MOLFETTA. On Thursday Italy’s vice champions will host TOURS VB of France in a match where the leadership in Pool A of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men will be at stake. This is an extremely important game for only the Pool leaders will be sure to book a spot in the Playoffs 12 of Europe’s elite club competition.
Last week PIACENZA downed Bulgaria’s Marek Union-Ivkoni DUPNITSA in straight sets while TOURS VB won “only” at the tie-break their home game with ACH Volley LJUBLJANA. As a result of that, TOURS VB and PIACENZA share the leadership in the Pool with 10 points apiece.
As they crossed their ways in France, TOURS VB beat PIACENZA at the tie-break and hence the game coming up on Thursday will be another close one. They both have been performing well in their respective national leagues with PIACENZA having swept seven consecutive matches to be ranked second in the standing of the Italian Serie A1. TOURS VB, on the other hand, with a fourth consecutive victory, tops the charts in France with 26 points. TOURS VB has a record of nine wins in 12 matches played so far this season while PIACENZA only lost the season opener to Altotevere CITTA’ DI CASTELLO.

“We are in a good shape and we have been playing well in recent times” says PIACENZA opposite Luca Vettori. “We just won our last game with Exprivia MOLFETTA in straight sets. We need to be as focused as possible on the coming game with TOURS VB. We lost the away match in France but this time we are playing at home and I am confident that we’ll celebrate a happy end.” The home advantage is very important as PIACENZA lost their last game at the PalaBanca this past February 24 as they played Diatec TRENTINO in the national league.

“This game marks the beginning of a very important week” says head coach Luca Monti. “We first play TOURS VB and then we play Diatec TRENTINO in the national league. The game with TOURS VB is very important especially after we lost the away match in France after making a mistake with our line-up. My players are very motivated to show that they are stronger than our French opponents.”
