Rookies LUGANO host triple champions TRENTINO for their last home match
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men
Lugano, Switzerland, December 9, 2013. Last week Switzerland’s rookie Energy Investments LUGANO lost in straight sets their away match with BERLIN Recycling Volleys and their mentor Mario Motta was not happy at all with his players’ performance at the Max-Schmeling-Halle. Their opponents, on the other hand, could easily impose their game and win in straight sets. On Tuesday LUGANO will host Italy’s Diatec TRENTINO for their last home match in the prelims of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League and will try to cause another sensation after they edged Arkas IZMIR in the opening round.
After coming back from Berlin, the so-called “Dragons” as they are nicknamed in Switzerland got three points from their national league fixture with UC LAUSANNE and also a bit of confidence before they take on the three-time winners of Europe’s elite club competition.
TRENTINO have swept all of their matches so far in the group and are traveling to Lugano with the goal to prolong their winning streak so as to book their spot in the Playoffs 12.
The game will be a unique opportunity also to sponsor a special cause and namely to collect funds to support the activities of the Foundation for the treatment and research of lymphomas in the Ticino region in cooperation with the association set up by Giacomo Sintini, TRENTINO's setter who could win his fight against this disease.
