Budvanska Rivijera takes on PARIS Volley in this season’s D-Day
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men
Budva, Montenegro, December 4, 2013. Budvanska Rivijera BUDVA and PARIS Volley will be playing a very exciting game on Thursday evening as they are vying for a spot in the Playoffs 12 of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men. Poland’s champions Asseco Resovia RZESZOW are currently topping the charts in the Pool and therefore three teams are fighting for making it to the next round from this group.
After losing in straight sets in Paris, Budvanska Rivijera BUDVA will need to seize the night at home if they want to stand a chance to finish first in the Pool. “Both teams are in a very similar situation as the one that loses the game on Thursday will have very slim chances to make it to the Playoffs 12. Our opponent has got the advantage that they play in a competitive league while we have been missing good matches since that clash in Paris” says Budvanska Rivijera mentor Sinisa Reljic. “However, we have been working hard and we have prepared for this game the best we could.”
Reljic does not hide his ambitions: “We are very motivated and we really want to make it to the next round. PARIS is a very good team and they currently are on top of the charts in their national league. They have many good foreign players and they are a very cosmopolite team. Basically they only have one French guy in their starting six, Mory Sidibé. They played good in defense and we need to find a way to shake their backline if we want to win this game. I also hope that the stands will be packed on Thursday night because we really need the support of our fans” he adds.
One of the most experienced players in the roster, Marko Vujovic, sounds quite optimistic before the game with PARIS Volley. “I believe that we have improved our physical shape. We took some time off after the game in France where we probably did not correctly estimate the value of our opponents. Now we are very determined to win this game and we will do everything we can to take as many points as possible from this match. This is our D-Day this season because if we lose we are not going to make the Playoffs” he stresses.
Aleksandar Minic is expected to pace Budvanska Rivijera in the game with PARIS. “We prepared really well for this game and we had plenty of time to fix the problems we had in Paris some weeks ago. We simply can’t wait for the start of this game. Our serve and block will be very important and it is also essential that we keep calm. We have a good team with many experienced players who have played many international matches so I believe that we can seize the night” Minic said.
