Titlehoders Lokomotiv need home victory to stay in contention for Playoffs spot
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League — Men
Novosibirsk, Russia, November 29, 2013. After losing their away matches with Zenit KAZAN and Lube Banca Marche MACERATA, titleholders Lokomotiv NOVOSIBIRSK really need to seize the night next week as they host Italy’s standout for the fourth round of action in prelim Pool E of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men. To make the Playoffs 12 and try to retain the title they won last March in Omsk, Lokomotiv have to win the three matches that will be played before completion of the League Round.
“We do believe in our chances and we will do our best to make the Playoffs” says head coach Andrey Voronkov. “We respect our opponents but we are not afraid of them” he adds.
The players of Lokomotiv are in good shape and three – Valentin Golubev, Artem Volvich, and Ilya Zhilin – recently won silver at the World Grand Champions Cup in Japan playing there for Russia’s national team. The matches coming up in the CEV Volleyball Champions League won’t be easy at all but the players of Lokomotiv have got enough motivation and energy to try to bounce back from their disappointing start in the competition.
