TRENTINO downs Arkas IZMIR to keep immaculate record in Pool D
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men

Izmir, Turkey, November 6, 2013. On Wednesday Italy’s Diatec TRENTINO joined the elitist group of those teams that have an immaculate record of three victories in as many matches in the prelims of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men. They did so by downing the hosts of Arkas IZMIR in straight sets (25-15, 25-21, and 25-13) at the local Atatürk sports hall in a game that was literally one-sided.
The bronze medalists from this year’s Club World Championships dominated the scene from the start up to the end to take another three points and top the charts in Pool D with nine.

Their young Portuguese wing-spiker Alexandre Ferreira top scored in the game with 17 points while opposite Tsvetan Sokolov (pictured) and middle-blocker Sebastian Solé also finished in double digits with 15 and 11 respectively. Canadian John Gordon Perrin paced the home side in their losing effort with 10. “I am very happy with the performance of my team because we did not leave any chance to our opponents and could keep good consistency from the start up to the very end. We showed a very solid performance in reception and this way everything went easy” said TRENTINO head coach Roberto Serniotti. “Much credit also goes to our setter Donald Suxho who orchestrated our spikers really well. This is the right booster we needed for the big match coming up on Sunday in the national league where we play our archrivals Lube Banca Marche MACERATA” he concluded.
