Rookie LUGANO wants to cause yet another sensation
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men
Lugano, Switzerland, November 5, 2013. After losing in straight sets to Italy’s Diatec TRENTINO last week, Swiss rookies Energy Investments LUGANO will be trying to seize the night once more at the Resega ice hall where on Wednesday they will host Germany’s champions BERLIN Recycling Volleys. The Swiss side hopes to go for a remake of that memorable night from two weeks ago where they edged Arkas IZMIR in what was their debut in the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men.
Last week LUGANO lost to Pool leader TRENTINO in straight sets whereas BERLIN scored an away victory in Izmir to get second place in the group. This game is hence going to be very important as these sides have embarked on a quest to make the Playoffs 12 and with BERLIN hosting then LUGANO at the Max-Schmeling-Halle on December 4, LUGANO needs to exploit the home advantage at the Resega ice hall.
Though LUGANO are the underdogs going into this game, they nevertheless already caused a sensation two weeks ago beating IZMIR and they hope to repeat the same as they host BERLIN. “We know what we can achieve and if we play aggressive and as a team, we can get any result” says Swiss home hero Joël Bruschweiler. “We did so with IZMIR and I hope we can go for a remake of that performance also with BERLIN. We would like all Volleyball fans to come to the hall and cheer on us because we need their support” he continues.
BERLIN won the Bundesliga for the last couple of seasons and have a very solid group that has been together for quite some time. This year they only added to their roster the best blocker from the 2013 CEV VELUX Volleyball European Championship, Serbia’s Srecko Lisinac, and a young rising star of Germany’s Volleyball, Florian Hecht, who previously had played for the likes of CHARLOTTENBURG.
