Knack ROESELARE routs Galatasaray in straight sets
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men
Istanbul, Turkey, October 30, 2013. After losing last week to Zaksa KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE in Poland, Turkey’s rookie Galatasaray ISTANBUL suffered their second setback in prelim Pool G of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League, this time losing to Knack ROESELARE of Belgium in straight sets (21-25, 23-25, and 19-25).
Belgium’s champions – whose roster includes the likes of Hendrik Tuerlinckx and Joppe Paulides – started out strong but Galatasaray kept the score very close in the opening set. Right by the time the hosts seemed to impose their tempo, they started making mistakes and they paved the way with gold for Knack that wrapped it up at 21-25. The second set did see Galatasaray off the blocks quite strong but Knack had already flipped the charts around by the second technical time-out (12:16) and could close it at 23-25. Galatasaray continued making a way too many mistakes also in the third set and they quickly trailed 13:21; Knack did not show any mercy and eventually finished it off at 19-25 for their second win in the competition following last week’s home victory over VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN of Germany.
Hendrik Tuerlinckx and Ahmed Abdelhay top scored in the match for Knack and Galatasaray as they registered 13 points apiece.
