Rookie Galatasaray welcomes Belgium’s champions for home debut
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men
Istanbul, Turkey, October 29, 2013. Rookie Galatasaray ISTANBUL will be playing on Wednesday their first home match in the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men as they host Belgium’s Knack ROESELARE. Galatasaray lost their debut in Europe’s elite club competition in straight sets to Zaksa KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE while Knack edged VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN to delight their home fans.
The roster of Knack ROESELARE includes many experienced players and members of their respective national team, such as Finland’s setter Eemi Tervaportti and Dutch middle blocker Joppe Paulides.
Galatasaray head coach Ahmet Resat Arig (pictured) says: “We know that we need to win this game if we want to continue our European campaign at the end of the prelims. We know the facts and we are aware that our opponent is very strong. I trust my players as well as the analysis we have done to prepare for this game. We also want to represent our club in the best way and secondly since hospitality is very important in Turkey, we want to show that to our opponents together with the right spirit of fair play to make something special out of our home debut in this competition.”
