Ukraine and Hungary set to fight for top ranks in Lutsk
2014 FIVB Volleyball World Championship - Women
Lutsk, Ukraine, May 25, 2013. Ukraine and Hungary will be playing on Sunday for first place in Lutsk, the city that hosts one out of six first-round qualification tournaments for the 2014 FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship running this week in Europe. On the second day of action Ukraine downed Moldova in straight sets (25-6, 25-16, and 25-19) while their next opponents, Hungary, did the same with Albania (25-13, 25-14, and 25-18).
Both Ukraine and Hungary have an impeccable record in the tournament with six sets won and zero lost, so the result of their showdown on Sunday will determine the first and second ranked of the group and hence also who makes it to the third and second round of the qualification process. In their match with Albania, Hungary was paced by Renata Sandor and Rita Liliom with 15 and 11 points respectively while three Ukrainian players – Nataliia Zakharchuk (18, pictured #8), Tetyana Kozlova (16) and Nadiia Kodola (12) - finished the game with Moldova in double digits.
