Croatia cements leadership in Pool C after win over Turkey

Bursa, Turkey, June 28, 2013. Pool leaders Croatia opened the third weekend of action in prelim Pool C of the 2013 CEV Volleyball European League – Men by edging the hosts of Turkey in three straight sets (25-23, 21-15, and 21-13). In the other match of the day Belarus beat Israel 3:1 (17-21, 21-17, 23-21, and 21-14).
Turkey initially set the pace of the game in the first set going up 14:10 before Croatia could level the score at 19 and bring it home at 25-23 after a close final rush. Croatia got off to a flying start in the second set going up 5:0 and enjoyed the same margin at the technical time-out (12:7). Turkey tried to respond to Croatia’s pressure but did not succeed in doing this as their guests brought it home at 21-15. Croatia opened strong also in the third set (10:7) and got a margin of two by the technical time-out; with good attacks the leaders of the group did continue their march and celebrated a well-deserved victory after bringing it home at 21-13.
