Bulgaria finishes second weekend with impeccable record
2013 CEV Volleyball European League - Women

Kecskemét, Hungary, June 23, 2013. Bulgaria completed the second weekend of action in prelim Pool A of the 2013 CEV Volleyball European League – Women by scoring a third consecutive victory, this time over Turkey (3:1; 12-21, 21-15, 21-17, and 21-14), to cement their leadership in the group. Bulgaria started the game with its back-up players and did quickly lose the opening set, but as soon as Dobriana Rabadzhieva and Diana Nenova were included in the starting six, things changed dramatically and Bulgaria could sweep the next three sets with ease.
“It was a good game except for the first set that we lost. Anyway we could get three points from this game which is good as we already look forward to the next round” says Bulgaria’s head coach Marcello Abbondanza.
“We lost all of our matches this weekend but at least here we could win the first set” stresses the mentor of Turkey, Mehmet Bedestenlioglu. “With this we have made a step forward. I hope we will perform better next week as we travel to Romania”.

In the other match of the day Romania got their revenge for last week’s defeat in Bursa by edging the home heroines of Hungary 3:2 (19-21, 21-15, 17-21, 21-11, and 15-10). The match started 15 minutes later than scheduled because of a blackout at Istvan Messzi sports hall that was promptly fixed by the local technicians. In the third set Hungary’s middle blocker Eszter Nagy had to leave the court after suffering an ankle injury. “I am proud of my players because they were able to keep close with Romania” comments Hungary’s head coach Laszlo Hollosy.
“I am really happy with this victory. Hungary was a good opponent and they played good Volleyball” says Romania’s mentor Marian Constantin. “I know they were missing one of their best players, Dora Horvath, and probably with her addition the game may have gone a different way”.
