Norway rounded out the program by edging the hosts of Latvia at the end of another thriller (25-21, 21-25, 20-25, 25-18, and 15-10). Havard Aarrestad top scored for Norway with 16 points while the home side was anchored by Aleksands Avdejevs with 17. “Norway always plays in the first round and has almost never made it to the second round of this competition, so we are evidently happy to start the tournament with this win, a premiere at this level” said Norway’s head coach, Japan-born Haruya Indo. “The result of this match could have been different if we had showed better reception. However, I still hope we can step up and play better in the next matches” stressed home mentor Janis Bomins.
