Tauron MKS hopes to cause major upset while hosting Azerrail
2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Women
Dabrowa Gornicza, Poland, November 18, 2012. Poland’s Tauron MKS DABROWA GORNICZA is set to play this coming Tuesday its return match with Azerrail BAKU for the prelims of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Women. This past week Tauron MKS suffered a 1:3 away defeat to Azerrail in Baku and the club from southern Poland needs to score a positive result in order to remain in contention for a spot in the Playoffs 12, having lost three consecutive matches so far in Pool D.
Tauron MKS recently claimed the last match scheduled for the national league by edging Impel WROCLAW in straight sets. “We felt nervous but were determined at the same time” says team captain Magdalena Sliwa. “We nevertheless perfectly executed the strategy we had agreed upon with our head coach and hence controlled the game. It is always difficult to score an away win in Wroclaw, so I am even more delighted with the result” she continues.
Azerrail is one of the main contenders for a spot in the final four and is anchored by a Polish setter, Milena Radecka. The group also includes three members of the Dutch national team, and namely Manon Flier, Debby Stam-Pilon and Caroline Wensink. “After playing last week in Baku we know our opponents a lot better” stresses Sliwa. “We have to change our approach and reduce our errors to a minimum. If we play the same way as we did this weekend in Wroclaw I think everything is possible”.
