Germany's and Russia's champions cross their ways in Schwerin
2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Women
Schwerin, Germany, October 22, 2012. This week on Wednesday SCHWERINER SC is opening this year’s CEV Volleyball Champions League season by playing Dinamo KAZAN, i.e. the great side from the Republic of Tartarstan. A good performance against the 2011 and 2012 Russian national champions looks like a very demanding task for the hosts of SCHWERINER SC.
Even though the team and the coaches of SCHWERINER SC are well prepared and ready to play the first match of the preliminary round, the respect for the opponents remains. Ekaterina Gamova, the absolute standout of Dinamo KAZAN, is a double world champion with the Russian national team in 2006 and 2010. Standing at 202 cm and being one of the best spikers in the world, she certainly will draw the attention of the local fans. “We need to take every game seriously” says Dinamo head coach Rishat Gilyazutdinov, thereby also praising the quality of SCHWERINER SC, one of their rivals in the prelims together with 2004 Tomis CONSTANTA of Romania and Italy’s rookie Robur Tiboni URBINO.
