Bulgarian ladies complete their campaign with immaculate record
2013 CEV Volleyball European Championship - Women
Budapest, Hungary, September 15, 2012. Bulgaria completed their campaign in the European qualifiers with an impeccable record as they downed the hosts of Hungary in the last match of Pool F (3:0; 25-20, 25-19, and 25-20).
Bulgaria was just a little better than the hosts in the opening set but asserted their rule in the final rush (25-20). Agnes Pallag and Rita Liliom fired up Hungary’s offense in the second set and the home side went to the front halfway through with a margin that stood by nine points. Still Bulgaria fought back with a series of blocks, leveled the score and could go for the final 25-19.
Set 3 was pretty close as well but Dobriana Rabadzhieva could finish it at 25-20 for Bulgaria for a perfect 3:0 that backs up the qualification for the final round of the 2013 European Champs.
The ladies of the Czech Republic completed their campaign in the group with a speedy 3:0 to edge Latvia in their last match of the tournament (25-14, 25-10, and 25-13). After a very close start, with the score leveled at 9, the Czechs imposed their pace going for a comfortable 25-14 in the opening set. Latvia lost composure in set 2 and 3, looking shaky in attack as well as in defense, while on the other side of the net the Czech Republic was powered by top scorer Aneta Havlickova and by Ivona Svobodnikova to go for an impressive 25-10 and 25-13 to cap their campaign in Budapest with a 3:0 win.
