With fifth win Bulgarian ladies book their spot for 2013 European Champs

Budapest, Hungary, September 14, 2012. Bulgaria remains unbeaten with one round still to go to complete the European qualifier – Pool F after the ladies mentored by Marcello Abbondanza cruised to a splendid 3:0 win to edge Latvia (25-14, 25-18, and 25-10) and be sure in the end they will qualify directly for the final round of the 2013 European Championship.
After a close start (4:4), Bulgaria scored seven consecutive points to set the tone of the game in the first set (11:4) and finish it off with an impressive 25-14. The second set was a little closer as Bulgaria played without their star Elitsa Vasileva, currently injured, but still could go for a 25-18. Tanya Sabkova stood out for Bulgaria in the third set where Latvia could not find any way to resist to their opponents’ attack and the game was rounded out with a speedy 25-10.
In the other match of the day the Czech Republic beat Hungary 3:1 to cement their second place in the standings. The score was very close in the opening set with Julia Milovits drawing level at 15 for the home side and with the support of their fans the local heroines could go for the provisional 1:0 (25-21). After claiming the previous match played in Varna in straight sets, the Czechs re-asserted their dominance in set 2 mainly via their star Helena Havelkova (25-14) and did so also in set 3 (25-17) where they exploited their physical skills. That story continued also in set 4 with Kristyna Pastulova standing out for the Czech side and claiming the final 25-13 that meant a 3:1 win for the side mentored by Carlo Parisi.
