Politechnika eyes all Polish final but first needs home win on Saturday
2012 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup - Men
Warszawa, Poland, March 15, 2012. Politechnika WARSZAWSKA will be playing this coming Saturday its return match for the semifinals of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup by hosting Tomis CONSTANTA after scoring on Wednesday a 3:2 away win in Romania. Even though things look pretty encouraging for the team from Poland’s capital city, still the local heroes will have to stay cool to book their second win and a ticket to the final.
“We are really happy with our away win as it was a very tough and thrilling match. Anyway we shall forget this game and concentrate only on the return scheduled for Saturday as nothing is decided yet” says head coach Radoslaw Panas. The final of this year’s Challenge Cup may turn into a home derby as Tytan AZS CZESTOCHOWA is also only one step away from the last act of the competition after scoring a home win against Prefaxis MENEN on Wednesday. “It would be just great to have those final matches here in Poland. I think this scenario may turn into reality but first we have to play well enough to defeat Tomis for a second time” adds Panas.
Politechnika is actually in a more favorable position as it plays the return match at home and the team hopes the fans will contribute a special atmosphere – as usual – at “Arena Ursynow” to support once again the dream of the home heroes to make it to the final.
