Another triumphal day for Czech teams at #EuroBeachVolleyU18
2016 CEV U18 Beach Volleyball European Championship
Brno, Czech Republic, August 12, 2016. The 2016 edition of the CEV U18 Beach Volleyball European Championship continued on Friday in Brno with the pool stage coming to an end. The home teams of the Czech Republic had much to celebrate since five out of six pairs representing the host country progressed to the second stage of the tournament, with four topping the standing of their respective pools. Marie-Sara Stochlova/Martina Maixnerova, Julie Honzovicova/Karin Zolnercikova, Matyas Dzavoronok/Jiri Sedlak and Jakub Rulisek/Tadeas Tezzele will re-start their quest for glory from Round 2 whilst Tereza Balakova/Lucie Pokorna will be playing Eva Pogacar/Kaja Kersnik of Slovenia in the first.
One of the most interesting matches came towards the end of the second competition day when Dzavoronok/Sedlak cruised to a 21-16, 21-17 win over Estonia’s Siim and Märt Tammearu to seal first place in their pool with a 3-0 win-loss record after a fairly slow start to the match.
Stochlova/Maixnerova also finished first in their pool after a tie-break win (21-18, 19-21, 15-8) over Ukraine’s Kateryna Dashevska and Viktoria Lysytsia. Stochlova is trying to improve on the bronze medal she won last year in Riga along with Tereza Kotlasova. Honzovicova and Zolnercikova caused a little sensation as they won all of their matches in the pool without dropping a set.
